820 1975 A BOARD VIEW MAC
The 5 "R's" apple suggests (including restoring w/ mac & windows multiple times). Squeezing most of the integrated chips while music was playing Cleaning the headphone jack/re-seating the ribbon cable I do have the necessary tools to solder and re-flow if needed. I am asking if anyone who has some expertise on this motherboard (820-1975-A) knows where this problem lies (Dock get flawless audio out but headphone jack has absolutely nothing). I am skeptical of doing this as I can hear that both channels are powered fine, there is just no audio at all. I have read only a few instances of this particular issue happening and the response to all of them was to get a replacement headphone jack. I have tried different headphones/earbuds and with all of them, as you are plugging them into the jack you can specifically hear the left channel and then the right receive their power. I attempted squeezing the chips on the motherboard while playing the music once again with it taken apart and there wasn't even a change in the static (when volume was 100%). Everything looked perfectly fine including the headphone jack and cable, there was not bent connections inside and it was clean. Slightly confused at this point, I took the thing apart and inspected the headphone jack and ribbon cable, motherboard and audio chips.

Thinking that I had just bought a busted iPod, I tried playing that same music through my car's stereo receiver using the usb/dock connection and it worked flawlessly.

820 1975 A BOARD VIEW CRACKED
I read online that this could be caused by cracked solder joints on the audio decoder or dac, so I tried pinching the right/bottom right corners with no change in the static at all. 1 Hi there, Would you be so kind to share a board view with me if you have one or point in the right direction where I can get one because it seems quite difficult to get Thanks. If I turned the volume all the way up, I could hear a slight static noise (Not music related), so I assumed that the jack is receiving power. To my surprise, there was no sound coming through the jack. Until I attempted to listen to a song through the headphone jack. The iPod seemed to be fully functional cosmetically and hardware wise. I recently bought an used iPod Video 5.5 Generation 30GB (A1136, Model#: PA446LL, SN:********V9N) off of craigslist.

I've been browsing the forum here among other places trying to figure this somewhat strange issue out and I finally decided to see if someone here has an answer.
